Welcome to the Essex League…..
The Essex League started more than sixty years ago and is not just for Essex clubs. Although the majority of the thirty-plus clubs affiliated with the League are Essex-based, we do have teams based in Suffolk, and in previous years have had teams from Cambridgeshire, Norfolk, and Hertfordshire competing.
The League caters to all ages from 9 upwards, with our oldest runners being well over 75 years of age. We currently have races for Under 11’s, Under 13’s, Under 15’s, Under 17’s, and seniors, including Under 20’s and veterans.
Race entry for all fixtures is via the Roster Athletics portal. Before entering your first Essex Cross Country League race (or if you last ran in 2022/23 season) you will need to set up an account with Roster to enable you to enter a race. The season consists of five fixtures, normally held between October and February. There are three other major cross country events in Essex which are organised by the Essex County Athletic Association, XC Relays, Veterans XC Championships and the Essex XC Championships.
